A blast occurred in the city of Mersin on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey reportedly targeting police, the Anadolu news agency reports. A large-scale probe into the attack has been launched.
According to Haberturk, the bomb was allegedly planted in a garbage can and activited by a remote control.
The incident occurred in the urban district of Yenisehir. According to NTV, preliminary data indicates that the incident has been classified as a terrorist attack.
Emergency and local law enforcement services, as well as ambulances have arrived at the site.

Local TV reported that at least 12 people were injured as a result of the explosion. "As a result of the explosion, 12 policemen were injured and taken to the city hospitals," local media cited prosecution as saying.
