WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US-led coalition is also said to have destroyed dozens of the terror group's fighting positions near Raqqa on Tuesday.
"Near Raqqah, 11 strikes engaged seven ISIS [Daesh] tactical units and destroyed 30 fighting positions, a logistics node and an ISIS UAS," the release stated on Wednesday.
The coalition said another strike near Deir ez-Zor destroyed an Daesh oil well-head.
Near Tal Afar, four strikes engaged Daesh units and destroyed fighting positions, a training camp, mortar system and supplies.
The coalition strikes in Syria, which were not authorized by the government of President Bashar Assad or the UN Security Council, have stirred up controversy as they led to the deaths of civilians and were conducted with the use of phosphorous bombs.
