The Syrian authorities pardoned 78 residents of the northern Syrian city of Manbij, located in the province of Aleppo after the latter vowed not to participate in any activities affecting the country's security, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The deal was reached on Saturday in accordance with the amnesty decree issued in 2016, the SANA news agency reported.

Syria has been engulfed in a civil war for over six years with the government troops fighting against numerous opposition factions as well as terrorist groups.

Trying to de-escalate the situation and to reach the national reconciliation, the Syrian government is settling the legal status for people, who are ready to lay down their arms and to get back to the normal life.
