The US-led coalition killed a senior recruiter for Daesh terrorist group in Iraq and a senior financier of terror attacks in Syria in July, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesperson Col. John Dillon said in a press briefing on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In recent months, the US-led coalition has targeted and killed several senior Daesh propagandists and facilitators in Iraq and Syria.

"Abu Suleiman al-Iraqi, a senior IS [Daesh] propaganda official was killed by a coalition airstrike near Mosul in early July. He provided strategic guidance and production oversight for IS propaganda, which recruited and indoctrinated and directed terrorists around the world," Dillon said.

Bassam al Jayfus, who handled Daesh funds for terror attacks, was killed by a coalition airstrike on July 18 in Mayadeen, Syria, Dillon added.

The removal of these key leaders disrupts the terror group's propaganda production, distribution and the ability to fund their activities, Dillon said.
