The US-led coalition is not involved in the ceasefire in southwestern Syria.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition is not involved in the ceasefire in southwestern Syria brokered with the participation of the United States and Russia, Operation Inherent Resolve Commander Lt. Gen. Stephen Townsend said in a briefing on Tuesday.

"There is not CJTFOIR [US-led coalition] participation in the ceasefire in southwestern Syria. That’s not our charter," Townsend told reporters.

Trump and Putin met for more than two hours on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany on Friday, where they agreed to establish a new ceasefire in southern Syria and to set up a joint cybersecurity unit.
