The most important condition for stabilization of the situation in the Middle East is the resolution of the long-standing Palestinian problem, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his greeting to the participants in the pan-Arab summit published on the Kremlin's website.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — So far, 135 out of the 193 UN member states recognize the State of Palestine.

"We believe that the most important condition for the long-term stabilization of the regional situation is the resolution of the long-standing Palestinian problem," Putin said.

Palestinians seek to restore its territories of the West Bank, including partially-occupied East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. Israel has been building settlements on the occupied lands.
