At least one police officer was killed and three other police officers were wounded in an explosion in the city of Diyarbakir in southeastern Turkey, Turkish media reported Monday.

ANKARA (Sputnik) — According to the NTV television channel, a homemade explosive device planted on the road was blown up when a police vehicle was passing by. Ambulances were reportedly arriving at the scene.

Earlier in the day, NTV reported that the blast occurred at 13:30 GMT during the demolition of a building in the Sur area, where the Dicle University campus is located. The report said seven people had been injured.
