"[UNSC] decides to renew the decisions in paragraphs two and three of Security Council resolution 2165 (2014) for a further period of twelve months, that is, until 10 January 2018," the resolution stated regarding the regime to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
The initial resolution allowed UN humanitarian agencies and their partners to utilize routes across conflict lines and border crossings at Bab al-Salam, Bab al-HAwa, Al Yarubiyah and Al-Tamtha, along with others, to ensure humanitarian assistance is delivered.
It also established a mechanism to monitor the loading of all humanitarian relief consignments at relevant UN facilities with the consent of Syria’s relevant neighbor states.
On December 16, the Russian Defense Ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation said that the Syrian army operation to liberate the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo was over, and that the Syrian government troops were eliminating separate hotbeds of militant resistance.
