MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Monday, Karlov was killed by a gunman at an art gallery exhibition opening in Ankara. Three other people were also injured in the attack. The Russian Foreign Ministry said it considers the attack a terrorist act.
"Andrey Gennadievich was really an outstanding diplomat, he made great efforts to maintain the diplomatic channels open in any situation," Cavusoglu said.
Cavusoglu noted that Karlov was not only a distinguished professional, but an "exceptional personality deserving high assessment at any level".
Ambassador Karlov was a distinguished diplomat who successfully worked in a difficult period in Turkey.
