MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Erdogan described the murder of the ambassador as an open provocation aimed against the Turkish people.
"Me, personally, the Turkish prime minister and the foreign minister are following the investigation. I express my deep condolences and on behalf of the Turkish people to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin personally and the Russian people. This terrorist attack will be thoroughly investigated. The bilateral investigative commission over the tragedy will be created," Erdogan said.
Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov was killed earlier in the day by a gunman at an art gallery exhibition opening in Ankara.
