MOSCOW (Sputnik) UN observers should only be sent to Aleppo with the consent of the Syrian authorities, Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday.

"The Russian side stressed that the activities [of international observers] should be carried out in accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law, which, in particular, provides for consent to such humanitarian assistance on the part of the Syrian government," the statement said.
