Senior diplomats from Russia and France discussed urgent issues of the Middle East agenda.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and the French Foreign Ministry's Director General for Political Affairs and Security Nicolas de Riviere discussed the situation in Syria in Moscow on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"During the conversation, the sides exchanged views in detail on urgent issues of the Middle East agenda with a focus on the development of the situation in Syria, including the humanitarian aspects of the situation in Aleppo," the statement said.

On Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Aleppo was under full government control with the Syrian army operation to retake the eastern districts completed. Civilians and militants were leaving the city amid a ceasefire agreement between the remaining pockets of resistance and government forces.
