A total of five people, including a tourist, were killed in an attack on police officers by an armed group of unknown men in Jordan’s western city of Karak, a security source told Sputnik Sunday.

AMMAN (Sputnik) — According to the source, the attack targeted a police station and a bus carrying tourists. Up to nine people were wounded in the shooting.

The source added that anti-terrorist forces have arrived at the scene to raid a medieval crusaders castle where the attackers are hiding at the moment.

The source said earlier in the day that the attack may have been carried out by a terrorist cell.
