Turkish Red Crescent will set up a camp for Aleppo refugees in Syrian province of Idlib about four miles away from the Syrian-Turkish border, president of the Turkish Red Crescent Kerem Kinik said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He added that the organization is planning to set up a total of 10,000 tents.

Red Crescent Continues Evacuation From East Aleppo Despite Militants' Shelling

"The first phase of the camp will be completed within three to four days," Kinik told the Anadolu news agency.

Over recent months, Aleppo became a major battleground in Syria with the government troops seeking to liberate the city divided into the government-held western part and the militant-held eastern part. The Russian reconciliation center said Wednesday that only about one square mile of the city's territory was still under the militants’ control.

Since Thursday, a number of bus convoys have evacuated militants and their families from eastern Aleppo through a special corridor. The evacuation operation organized by the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation, in cooperation with the Syrian authorities, is still ongoing.
