UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on the Syrian authorities and their allies, Russia and Iran, to allow the remaining civilians to escape the area and facilitate access for all humanitarian actors and the delivery of critically important assistance.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) – The Syrian government and its allies Russia and Iran should immediately let civilians escape eastern districts of the city of Aleppo and allow for deliveries of humanitarian aid, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told the Security Council on Tuesday.

"As the battle for Aleppo concludes, I call on the Syrian authorities and their allies, Russia and Iran, to honor their obligations under international humanitarian law and do the following: urgently allow the remaining civilians to escape the area and facilitate access for all humanitarian actors and the delivery of critically important assistance," Ban said.
