Iran Expresses Hopes for Urgent Start of Satellite Construction With Russia

According to reports, Iran's Communication Minister expressed hope for the immediate start of the construction of an Iranian satellite in cooperation with Russia.

Russia Uses Airbase in Iran as a Safeguard Against 'Satellite Surveillance'
TEHRAN (Sputnik) Iran's Communication Minister Mahmoud Vaezi expressed on Tuesday hope for the immediate start of the construction of an Iranian satellite in cooperation with Russia.

"I hope that after this session the construction of the satellite in cooperation with Russia will start," Vaezi said.

Earlier this year, Vaezi said that Iran and Russia's state space corporation Roscosmos reached understanding, concerning construction and launch of an Iranian satellite.

Iranian Space Agency announced in October that it was going to launch three home-made satellites into space by the end of the next year.

On Tuesday, the 13th meeting of the Russian-Iranian Permanent Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation took place in the Iranian capital of Tehran, where Russia and Iran signed a number of economic deals, concerning the cooperation in the energy sphere and other fields of mutual interest.
