As the militants’ defenses in Aleppo continue to crumble, it appears that their cohorts in Idlib may attempt to avenge those inglorious defeats.

During the last two days Syrian armed forces managed to eliminate at least 15 terrorists and a truck with a machinegun mount in the vicinity of Idlib, a source in the Syrian military told Sputnik Arabic.

At the same time, he added, the Syrian army’s victories in Aleppo have effectively put the troops deployed in Idlib on high alert due to concerns about possible retaliation by the terrorists.

During the recent years the terrorists have often retaliated for a military defeat suffered by them in one region by blowing up something or launching in attack in another area in order to divert the public attention from their setbacks, the source explained.

The Syrian army’s recent successes in Idlib were made possible by careful planning of each and every operation conducted by the troops. The military was also able to establish a network of listening posts in the region, which supply government forces with reliable information regarding enemy activity.
