Russian Foreign Minister Says Moscow Supports US Initiative on Aleppo Ceasefire

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has announced that Moscow supports the US' December 2 initiative on Aleppo crisis settlement.

HAMBURG (Sputnik) — Russia supports the US proposal on the withdrawal of militants from eastern Aleppo put forward by Washington on December 2, Lavrov said Wednesday.

"I confirm the support of the US initiative put forward on December 2," Lavrov said ahead of talks with US State Secretary John Kerry in Hamburg.

At a meeting in Rome on December 2, Lavrov and Kerry agreed on a plan that would allow all militants to withdraw from eastern Aleppo.
