US Urges Armed Groups to Cease Fighting in Libyan Capital Immediately
19:21 GMT 05.12.2016 (Updated: 19:36 GMT 05.12.2016) The United States is concerned over renewed fighting in Libya’s capital, Tripoli, and calls on all parties to end the violence, US Department of State spokesman Mark Toner said at a briefing Monday.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Earlier this week, the Libyan media reported that clashes between rival militias in the Libyan capital of Tripoli left at least eight people killed and over 20 wounded, media reported.
"The United States expresses its deep concern over the escalation of violence between armed groups in Tripoli and calls on all the parties to immediately heed the Government of National Accord’s appeal to cease fighting," Toner told reporters.
