At least 24 people, including women and children, were killed after the Daesh terrorists detonated a tank truck, according to local media reports.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — An Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) militant detonated a tank truck he was driving in the east of Iraqi Mosul, killing at least 24 people and injuring dozens more, local media reported on Saturday, citing a source in the law enforcement agency.
There are women and children among the civilians killed in the attack that occurred earlier on Saturday, the source told the Shafaq news agency.

According to the security forces, the terrorists could have staged the attack on civilians in retaliation for their cooperation with the military.
Mosul, the second biggest Iraqi city, as well as a number of other northern and western Iraqi cities and towns were seized in 2014 during an IS offensive. On October 17, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi launched the operation to retake Mosul from the Daesh. The operation began with 4,000 Kurdish Peshmerga fighters and 30,000 Iraqi soldiers backed by the US-led coalition.
