An airstrike by the US-led coalition destroyed half of a clinic south of the Iraqi city of Mosul last month, killing eight civilians along with three Daesh militants, the advocacy group Human Rights Watch said in a report on Tuesday.

Daesh Kills Mosul Civilians for Refusal to Install Rocket Launchers on Roofs
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The airstrike on October 18 apparently followed a decision by the Daesh terrorist group to take over part of the clinic and use the facility for meetings, the report explained.

"ISIS [Daesh] fighters’ despicable positioning inside a protected health facility south of Mosul put civilians, including patients, at risk and needs to stop immediately," Human Rights Watch Deputy Middle East Director Lama Fakih said in the release.

The rights group also criticized the US-led coalition, claiming that such airstrikes on civilian facilities are legal only when there are assurances that civilians will not be harmed.

The October 18 airstrike killed Daesh’s so-called transportation minister, according to reports.
