No foreign soldiers are participating in the military operation on the liberation of the Iraqi city of Mosul from Daesh terrorist group, Lt. Gen. Abdel Ghani Asadi, the commander of The Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service, said.

MOSUL (Sputnik) — According to Iraq's Republican Guard, a number of US officers is stationed at the Mosul suburb of Bartella and the base at Qayyarah, coordinating the actions of the Iraqi Army and the Coalition.

"No foreign troops [take part in the Mosul offensive], only Iraqi [one]. As for our cooperation with them, the [US-led] coalition is providing air support," Asadi told RIA Novosti.

Iraqi Elite Commandos Kill Some 1,000 Terrorists in Mosul Operation
On October 17, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi launched the operation to retake Mosul from Daesh. The operation began with 4,000 Peshmerga fighters and 30,000 Iraqi soldiers backed by the US-led coalition.

The Iraqi army and anti-terrorist unit managed to enter some of the eastern neighborhoods of Mosul, while Shiite militias try to liberate from the terrorists the strategically important city of Tal Afar, and to cut off supply routes for Daesh militants located in Mosul.
