MOSCOW (Sputnik) – At least eight people were killed and 15 others were injured in a train collision in the northern Iranian province of Semnan, a medical source told Sputnik Friday.
"Eight people were killed and 15 others were injured in the initial count, the number could possibly increase. Medical crews arrived at the scene of the accident and the wounded were transported to Damghan hospital," medical source said.
Earlier in the day, local media reported about a collision of two passenger trains at the Haf-Khan station in Shahroud city on Friday morning. The crash caused a large fire, while a heavy snowfall and icy roads impeded the rescue operation.
