The death sentence for the former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi was revoked by the Egyptian Court of Cassation, media reported on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The court also revoked life sentences for 21 other people also involved in the mall jailbreak incident in 2011, the Ahram media outlet reported.

Morsi was also sentenced to death over the involvement into a mass prison break and police violence in 2011 during political demonstrations that contributed to the resignation of long-standing leader Hosni Mubarak.
