Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev called to expedite the resumption of the Palestinian-Israeli dialogue to finally negotiate a two-state solution.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The two-state solution is a way to solve the Israeli–Palestinian conflict through co-existence of the State of Israel alongside an independent State of Palestine.

"It is extremely important to expedite the resumption of the Palestinian-Israeli dialogue in order to finally resolve the issue of the coexistence of two equal states. Moscow will never abandon this position of principle," Medvedev said in his article for Palestinian media.

Medvedev also said that Russia funded Palestine's budgetary spending with $40 million throughout 2006-2013.

"In recent years, according to the established practice, Russia has been allocating considerable funds to cover Palestinian current budget expenditures: in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2013 a total of $40 million has been allocated," Medvedev said in his article for Palestinian media.

He added that in 2015 Palestine was provided with additional funds in the amount of $5 million for the restoration of the Gaza Strip affected by the Israeli attacks in July and August 2014.
