MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier, Iraq's army said it had killed over 2,000 Daesh terrorists in Mosul since the start of the operation to liberate the cityy.
"After complete liberation of the town of Hammam al-Alil, the federal police forces are heading to Mosul's international airport," the Iraqi army's press service reported.
The operation to liberate Mosul, which involves the Iraqi military and Kurdish forces and is backed by the aircraft from the US-led coalition, started on October 17.
