“In Syria, Coalition military forces conducted three strikes using fighter and remotely piloted aircraft against Daesh targets,” the release said on Tuesday. “Additionally in Iraq, Coalition military forces conducted eight strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq.”
In Syria, the coalition airstrikes were launched near two towns of Abu Kamal and Mara, and destroyed two fighting positions, a mortar system, and a vehicle.
The airstrikes in Iraq were waged near four locations, including Mosul and Sinjar, and destroyed 21 vehicles, 22 fighting positions, eight tunnels, seven mortar systems, six rocket rails, three heavy machine guns, three rocket systems, two light machine guns, two command and control nodes, as well as a communications tower.
The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting airstrikes against IS in Syria and Iraq since 2014. The strikes in Syria are not authorized by the government of President Bashar Assad or by the United Nations Security Council.
The Daesh is outlawed in the United States, Russia and other countries.
