MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Paulo Pinheiro stressed the commission would be probing witness reports in an "apolitical, independent and impartial manner," and called on the Syrian government to share any information on alleged violations.
"Regardless of the outcome of this specific session we will continue documenting the crimes occurring in Aleppo," Pinheiro said at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Fighting has been continuing in Aleppo during most of the five-year Syrian conflict. The Russian and Syrian governments agreed to stop airstrikes on Islamist fighters controlling parts of the city starting Thursday. The humanitarian pause was later extended into Friday afternoon.
