Daesh terrorists launched an attack on Friday on the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Daesh attacked several venues across the Kurdish city, sources told CNN. The news network said local television was broadcasting images showing the dead or wounded lying in the street.

Kirkuk lies some 108 miles away from Mosul, considered to be the terror group’s main stronghold in Iraq. The Iraqi government announced an operation to retake Mosul from Daesh, a group outlawed in Russia, on Monday and has been making rapid gains on several fronts.
