MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi discussed in phone talks on Tuesday the ongoing military operation to liberate Iraqi second largest city of Mosul from Daesh terrorists, the Kremlin said.
"Vladimir Putin wished the Iraqi army and its allies success in accomplishing the set task," the Kremlin's press service said in a statement.
According to the statement, the Russian president also expressed support of efforts taken by the Iraqi authorities aimed at eliminating the hotbed of international terrorism and safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq.
