Western countries have launched a smear campaign against the Russian Aerospace Forces accusing them without any evidence of indiscriminately bombing the Syrian city of Aleppo, the Russian General Staff said Thursday.

"I would like to underscore that the Russian aviation carries out single pinpoint strikes on targets outside Aleppo and outside residential areas. Those targets are verified in advance. We do not strike weddings and funeral trains," the chief of the Russian General Staff's Main Operational Directorate said.

Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy explained that the use of Russian Su-24 bombers equipped with the Strelets target acquisition and designation system provides for an almost 100-percent efficiency of airstrikes.

"The use of Strelets complexes allows the Su-24M attack aircraft to hit the targets with almost a 100-percent precision," the general stressed.

The situation in Syria’s Aleppo remains difficult, residents are staging protest actions which are suppressed by terrorists.

"The most difficult situation persists in the region of Aleppo. The residents, discontent with the actions of militants, stage spontaneous protests, which are cruelly suppressed by the terrorists," he said.

Al-Nusra Front Carries Out Forced Mobilization of Syrian Population

Al-Nusra Front terrorist group has carried out a forced mobilization of male population in Syria, enlisting about 1,000 local residents, the Russian General Staff said.

"After suffering significant losses in clashes with government forces, and being left without external support, the leaders of al-Nusra Front group have carried out a forced mobilization of the male population, enlisting about 1,000 people," Rudskoy said.

According to Rudskoy, the mobilized local residents were used as a "human shield" during an attempt by terrorists to break out of encirclement.

Russian Military Ready to Guarantee Safe Exit From Eastern Aleppo

The Russian contingent in Syria is ready to ensure the safe exit of militants and civilians from the besieged eastern part of the Aleppo city.

"We are ready to guarantee the safe exit of militants with weaponry, the unhindered passage of civilians in and out of eastern Aleppo, as well as the delivery of humanitarian supplies there," Rudskoy said.

According to Rudskoy, a total of seven humanitarian corridors have been opened in Aleppo, "allowing all residents to safely leave the area and ensuring the unhindered evacuation and medical treatment of wounded and ill."

Syria's civil war between government forces and a wide range of insurgents, including terrorists opposition forces, has ranged for some five years and has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.

On September 9, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry unveiled a new peace plan to address the conflict. The ceasefire deal was later shattered by numerous violations, which resulted in intensified fighting between the Syrian government and militants in Aleppo.

The Syrian government has announced an end to the ceasefire regime a week later, while Russia said that the United States failed to fulfill its obligations on Syria, including unblocking the Castello road in Aleppo and differentiating between terrorists and armed opposition groups in Syria.

The Castello road is the last remaining access route to Aleppo. According to the ceasefire deal brokered by the United States and Russia, the Syrian army and militant groups agreed to withdraw simultaneously from the Castello road.
