A bomb explosion in eastern Afghan Nangarhar province left two US soldiers on Saturday, US Forces-Afghanistan said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A bomb explosion in eastern Afghan Nangarhar province resulted in injury of at least two US soldiers on Saturday, US Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A) said.

“2 US troops were injured in #Nangarhar today after their vehicle hit an IED [improvised explosive device]. No other casualties resulted,” USFOR-A posted in its official Twitter account.

On Tuesday, a US military service member died in the same province during an operation against the Daesh.

Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, with government forces fighting the continuing Taliban insurgency, while the Islamic State terror group, outlawed in Russia, has also expanded its activities in the country.
