"I would not believe even for a second that a peaceful future is possible without Russia," Morin said at a meeting with Konstantin Kosachev, chair of the Russian parliament’s foreign affairs committee, in Moscow.
"The issue of fighting terrorism, stabilizing Iraq, reaching a political settlement and normalizing processes in Syria cannot be addressed without Russia’s participation," the French politician added.
Morin, who presides over the Normandy regional council, told Kosachev that he came to Moscow in hope of establishing a fruitful long-term relationship with Russia.
