MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The first explosion, which occurred in the Amil District in southwestern Baghdad, killed five and wounded 16 more, the Al Mada Press media outlet said. Another suicide attack was staged in New Baghdad, leaving two people dead and 11 injured.
Daesh terror group has reportedly claimed responsibility for both attacks.
Daesh is an extremist Sunni militant group, which has occupied vast territories of Iraq, as well as of neighboring Syria, and denounces the Shia Muslims, who make up almost 70 percent of the Iraqi population, as infidels. Daesh, which is outlawed in many countries, including Russia, has carried out numerous terror attacks and committed many human rights atrocities in the country.
