Two US military airstrikes have destroyed two al-Qaeda targets in the past week while also eliminating four operatives of the terrorist group, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a release on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier, the CENTCOM said that strikes against al-Qaeda in Yemen, according to the release, helps disrupt plotting and executing terrorist attacks against US persons, allies or the homeland.

"One strike, in the Marib Governorate Sept. 20, killed two operatives of al-Qa'ida [al-Qaeda] in the Arabian Peninsula," the release stated. "Another strike, Sept. 22 in the al Baydah Governorate, killed two other al-Qa'ida operatives."
