Terrorists Shelling Aleppo's Historic Center With Mortars

Islamic militants are intensively shelling with mortars the historic center of the Syrian city of Aleppo controlled by the government forces, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported Wednesday from the scene.

ALEPPO (Sputnik) — Fighting has been continuing in the liberated al-Farafira district. The Syrian army has managed to keep control over the liberated area.

On Tuesday, Syrian government forces liberated most of the al-Farafira district northwest of Aleppo's historic Old City and advanced the frontline for the first time in years.

Syria is witnessing intensified fighting in Aleppo, after the Syrian army declared an end to the week-long Russia-US-brokered ceasefire, blaming militants for numerous violations that made the cessation of hostilities unreasonable.
