ANKARA (Sputnik) — A total of 32,000 people have been arrested in connection with a July 15 attempted coup in Turkey, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said Wednesday.

"To date, 32,000 people have been arrested," Bozdag said in an interview with the NTV broadcaster.

The minister said up to 70,000 people have been investigated for links to self-exiled Islamic cleric Fetullah Gulen and the so-called Fethullahist Terrorist Organization/Parallel State Structure (FETO) suspected of masterminding the attempted overthrow.
