US Forces Continue Targeting Daesh Positions in Libya’s Sirte
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US-led coalition airstrikes against the Islamic State (also known as Daesh) on Tuesday destroyed oil assets used by the terror group in Syria, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement.

"Near Dayz Ar Zawr, three strikes destroyed four ISIL [Islamic State] oil tanker trucks, an oil tanker trailer, five vehicles and an oil well head," the statement stated on Wednesday.

Four additional airstrikes near the terror group’s de facto capital of Raqqa destroyed an oil well head, as well as a vehicle and seven supply routes, CENTCOM noted.

The coalition conducted ten additional strikes near the Syrian cities of Abu Kamal, Al Shadaddi and Mar’a, destroying Daesh fighting positions, supply routes, vehicles, a vehicle borne improvised explosive device and mortar systems.

In Iraq, the coalition conducted three strikes, engaging three Daesh tactical units and destroying a vehicle, two tunnel entrances and four assembly areas, the release said.

Additionally, CENTCOM updated the report for September 11 due to a delayed strike assessment. The statement explained that two airstrikes near Dayz Ar Zawr, or Deir Ezzor, omitted from the September 12 report destroyed four Daesh supply routes.

The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been carrying out airstrikes in Iraq and Syria since the summer of 2014. Airstrikes in Iraq are conducted with the support of the Iraqi government, but coalition operations in Syria are conducted without the approval of the legitimate government of President Bashar Assad or the UN Security Council.

The Daesh has been designated as a terrorist organization and is outlawed in Russia and numerous other countries throughout the world.
