US Believes Aspects of Syria Ceasefire Too Sensitive to Share Publicly
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A nationwide ceasefire, brokered by Moscow and Washington, came into force in Syria at sunset on Monday. If the truce holds for a week, Russian and US air forces will begin coordinated airstrikes at Daesh targets.

"A total of 21 strikes at the government's positions and civilians have been registered in Aleppo province, Damascus, Hama, Idlib and Darayya since the previous day," Russia's Defense Ministry said in a statement published on its website.

The Russian reconciliation center for Syria said militants had shelled the district where the Aleppo governor resides.

Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to President Bashar Assad fighting a number of opposition factions and extremist groups. Daesh and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham are considered terrorists by Russia and the United States and are not part of the deal.
