MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia is ready to host long postponed talks between Israeli and Palestinian leaders as soon as Benjamin Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas agree on their time and place, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday.
"Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi spoke in one of his speeches in favor of holding a direct meeting between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Abbas in Russia. We will be ready for this," Lavrov told reporters.
He maintained that the two leaders should determine the schedule and location of a possible meeting on their own.
"At any time, when all these circumstances converge at one point and the leaders of Israel and Palestine will be ready and, if the choice falls on Russia, we will do everything to make this meeting successful," Lavrov said.
