The US Department of Defense has no details about a strike that killed two senior commanders of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (JFS) terrorist group, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, near the Syrian city of Aleppo, a department spokesperson told Sputnik on Friday.

Fighters from the former Al-Nusra Front -- renamed Fateh al-Sham Front after breaking from Al-Qaeda -- advance at an armament school after they announced they seiged control of two military academies and a third military position on August 6, 2016, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said - Sputnik International
Three Reasons Behind Al-Nusra Front’s Attempt to Rebrand
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Thursday, local media reported that a US airstrike in Syria eliminated al-Nusra Front leaders Abu Omar Sarakeb and Abu Omar al-Shami.

"We don't have any info on this strike," the spokesperson stated. "We continue to support the Iraqi Security Forces and vetted Syrian opposition forces that are taking the fight to ISIL [Daesh]."

On Tuesday, Deputy National Security Advisor for US President’s Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes said the United States is open to working with Russia on countering the threats posed by al-Nusra Front and Daesh in Syria.
