ALEPPO (Sputnik) — Russian military brought three metric tons of food to the refugees in the eastern part of the war-ravaged Aleppo, a spokesman for the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation said Friday.
"Canned meat, fish, cereals. We would like to note that people trust in our help and they continue to leave through the humanitarian corridors," Amir Demlikamov told journalists.
The humanitarian aid will be distributed among the citizens of besieged Aleppo, including the families of Syrian soldiers killed during the fights in the city.
On August 27, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura reiterated his call for all parties to the conflict to agree on a 48-hour humanitarian pause in Aleppo aimed at aid delivery and repairs for the city's power and water systems. Russia supported the proposal, with UN humanitarian convoys awaiting all parties to the conflict to back the proposal.
