Russian Military Reports Five Ceasefire Violations in Syria Within 24 Hours

The Russian center for Syrian reconciliation at the Hmeimim airbase registered a total of five ceasefire violations in Syria in the last 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russia-US brokered ceasefire regime in Syria came into force on February 27. The Jabhat Fatah Al-Sham (formerly known as the al-Nusra Front) and the Daesh militant groups are not part of the agreement.

"The ceasefire has been observed in most provinces of the Syrian Arab Republic. Within last 24 hours, 5 ceasefire violations have been registered in the Damascus (4) and Latakia (1) provinces," the ministry said in a daily bulletin posted on its website.

Russia’s center for Syrian reconciliation oversaw the signing of truces with six new areas in the war-torn country on Sunday, bringing the total count of participating settlements to 554, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"Within last 24 hours, truce agreements have been signed with representatives of 6 inhabited areas in the Latakia province. The total number of inhabited areas, the leaders of which had signed reconciliation agreements, has reached 554," the ministry said in a daily bulletin posted on its website.

Negotiations on joining ceasefire regime have continued with field commanders in the Homs, Latakia, Al-Quneitra and Hama provinces.
