Final remnants of the so called militant Syrian opposition that were holding Darayya have left the city as per the truce deal made with government forces.

Militants who put down their weapons and signed the truce with the Syrian Arab Army and local civilians have also been evacuated from the city.

General Samir Suleiman, head of the Syrian Arab Army information department, told Sputnik that the militants who refused to lay down arms relocated to Idlib.

"1106 militants who refused to lay down their weapons travelled to Idlib province carrying small arms only, and joined the local militant groups. 298 militants surrendered their weapons and applied to appropriate government agencies that will help them return to peaceful life," the general said.

Furthermore, it appears that there were some foreign nationals among the militants who left for Idlib. A source in the Syrian Red Crescent told Sputnik that one of the conditions for the truce was to allow these people to travel to Idlib via Homs without the buses they’re traveling on being searched.

Some militants torched their homes before leaving, seeking to destroy any evidence that might implicate them as members of militant opposition groups.

Currently the Syrian army is clearing the roads of the devastated city from mines and booby-traps.

Estimates on the amount of property damage inflicted during the fighting for Darayya are so far unavailable.
