MOSCOW (Sputnik) Earlier in the day, local media reported that the Iranian air defense had detected a US unmanned aerial vehicle in the east of its airspace, allegedly coming from Afghanistan.

"According to our information, the aircraft attempted to enter [the Iranian airspace] but did not do so. If it entered, it would have been downed, but apparently it responded to a warning. There have been instances of planes entering the Iranian airspace and being downed," the source said.
