Two university professors from the United States and Australia were kidnapped in the Afghanistan capital of Kabul, media reported Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Kabul police chief Abdel Rahman Rahimi confirmed the abduction, the ABC news said.

Afghanistan has been in a state of political and social turmoil for decades, fighting the continuing Taliban insurgency, with other extremist groups expanding their activities in the country.
