Over 190 people have been killed and at least 1,400 injured during late Friday's attempted coup in Turkey, the country's Foreign Ministry said Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim gave figures of over 180 killed and 1,440 injured. Later, a figure of over 260 victims emerged in media.

"Unfortunately, over 190 of our citizens died and over 1,400 have been injured," the ministry said in a statement.

The number excludes casualties suffered by coup supporters, which amounted to over 100 people dead, according to the ministry.

Meanwhile, over 6,000 people have so far been arrested in connection with the coup.
