    Turkish Parliament to Convene for Emergency Session Later on Saturday

    Turkey's Parliament will hold an emergency session amid an attempted coup later on Saturday, Parliament Speaker Ismail Kahraman said.

    ANKARA (Sputnik) —  Late Friday night, Members of Turkey's armed forces night tried to stage a military coup, leaving 100 of their own men dead and 90 more among civilians and police.

    "We will convene for an extraordinary session at 15:00 (12:00 GMT). The draft of the declaration on the events has already been prepared," Kahraman told journalists.

    The parliament building hit by the airstrikes was severely damaged with windows broken and walls partly destroyed, according to footage of the NTV channel.
