    At Least 42 Killed in Ankara as Military Coup Attempt in Turkey

    At least 42 people were killed in Ankara as a military coup was attempted, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

    ANKARA (Sputnik) – Earlier, it was reported that at least 12 were wounded at the Turkish parliament building in Ankara.

    According to Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, over 120 coup participants have already been arrested.

    A general who was one of the organizers of the coup has reportedly been killed, according to the prime minister.

    Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan primised to cleanse the country’s army of traitors and to punish all those involved in the attempted coup.
