US-Led Coalition Launches 32 Airstrikes Against Daesh in Syria, Iraq

The US-led coalition conducted 15 airstrikes against Daesh in Syria and 17 in Iraq.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition against Daesh carried out 32 airstrikes against targets in Syria and Iraq on Monday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a press release.

"In Syria, coalition military forces conducted 15 strikes using bomber, attack, ground-attack, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL [Daesh] targets," the release stated on Wednesday. "Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 17 strikes coordinated with and in support of the government of Iraq."

In Syria, the airstrikes were waged near Abu Kamal, Manbij and Mara, and destroyed two Daesh vehicles, two fighting positions and a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device.

Meanwhile, the airstrikes in Iraq were carried out near six towns, including Fallujah, Mosul and Ramadi, and destroyed two fighting positions, two bunkers, four rocket rails, two rocket systems, an excavator, a rocket propelled grenade system and engineering equipment.

The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting airstrikes in Syria and Iraq against Daesh since the summer of 2014. The terrorist group is outlawed in the United States and Russia, among numerous other countries.
